Let me introduce myself...

So, my numbers have been growing over the past few weeks-woot, woot, and I was thinking that now may be a good time to re-introduce myself so that all my new readers can learn a little about my "journey".  When I first started my blog back in November, 2011, I never did a formal introduction so those of you who have followed for a bit may learn a little about me as well.

I have been doing this whole "expat" thing for only 2.5 years, and oh what fun we have managed to pack into those years.  We moved to Dusseldorf, Germany from the U.S. for my husband's job.  I have to admit, when I met him 20 years ago I couldn't have imagined the fun that we would have exploring the world.  We married in 1995-yep, I'm old-and the craziness started soon after.  We moved to Connecticut, Indianapolis, Orange County, CA, Denver and then on to Germany.  I have to say that my "home" will always be in Orange County...sorry to my family, but it has amazing memories since my boys grew up there!

We have two wonderful boys who I call the "teenage expats".  They are amazingly versatile and tolerant of all of our moving and although I have doubted it occasionally, I am sure that moving them around the world, will not be the cause of them being in counselling when they are older!

When we moved to Germany we brought along a few of our pets....

Yes, we really did ship the frog!!

During our time in Europe, we have been fortunate enough to travel quite a bit.  There are so many amazing places to visit. One of the our family favorites is Scotland and one of our least favorites was Barcelona, not because of the city, more because of the circumstances!

My passions are photography, travel, my family, our dog and the ocean.  On this journey, I will tell you all about our lives, as well as our adventures and it's not always pretty.

So, sit back, grab a coffee, a wine or perhaps my favorite, a vodka and enjoy, because after all...It's About the Journey!

    1. Thanks so much Ashley. I sometimes think they would much rather be home in the US with their friends and aren't really getting the value of what they are able to see. Hopefully when they get older they will realize how fortunate they were to be expats.

  2. Enjoyed reading this post! Love your comment about raising your boys on the move. I tell my Love that I'm not in a place to make babies because I have so much I want to do yet. I love that you've decided to take them on the wild ride with you. Traveling isn't always about learning about new places, I think you end up learning more about yourself in the end.

    1. Oh how right you are! I think the whole family is learning about themselves and it is such a good lesson to teach them that the world is a really big place. Hold of on the babies until you are ready, but don't forget that you can still do so much even with them, and often it brings in a whole new element of excitement to see the world thru the eyes of a child!
