Take a minute to smell the tulips!

One of my favorite Spring day trips that we have taken while living in Dusseldorf is just a few hours into The Netherlands to Keukenhof Gardens!  Open this year from March 21st-May 20th, this 32 hectare garden is the "most photographed place in the world!" It doesn't just have tulips either...there are over 7 million tulips, daffodils and hyacinths all in bloom at the same time!  Take a peak at the flowers in bloom and make sure you stop and smell the tulips at the Keukenhof Gardens if you get the chance!

Oh and you must try the ham and mustard sandwich, it is to die for!!

Where is your favorite Spring day trip?

    1. Thanks! I was amazed that this is the most photographed place in the world! I believe there is also a Tulip Festival in Michigan that is worth seeing as well.

  2. Absolutely gorgeous. I'm still so sad that we're leaving Europe early. Seeing the tulips has been on my bucket list, so I'm bummed I won't see them now. I guess I'll just have to come back to Europe for a visit in the future!

  11. I worked for a florist...I was always amazed by tulips and their quest for growing toward the light/sun. When they arrive from overseas, they are dry packed in long, shallow boxes with holes cut in along the sides for ventilation. While in their packing state, the small amount of light allowed through the ventilation holes is enough to encourage them to grow toward it - resulting in some pretty gnarly looking, crooked tulips when un packing.....but sure enough, once bundled, wrapped and set in floral buckets, they straighten out, as to reach the overhead fluorescence/artificial sun.

    1. That is such a cool fact! Now that you say that, I do notice that any tulips that I have in my house reach for the light!

  14. That is very pretty! I've never been to this garden, even though I used to live quite close to it, but maybe someday I get to see it ;)

My favorite springtime visit would probably be our local Patterson Farms - in spring and summer they have fields of strawberries where locals come with their kids and not only pick strawberries but also do hay rides and visit the store etc. It's neat and great for building family memories. Thanks for sharing the pictures of the beautiful flowers! I love Tulips!
