Edinburgh, boring? I think not...

I am a ROCK STAR Mom!  We went to Scotland for our Easter break and for weeks leading up to the holiday all I heard from my kids was how boring it was going to be!  Well, they are eating their words!  What an amazing country and Edinburgh, wow, what a city!

We arrived quite late and were welcomed by the lights twinkling on the castle walls!  So far so good!  I had spent numerous hours behind a computer working on the plans for this trip...Boring, really...I would show them otherwise!

We stayed in the city, a 5 minute walk from all of the sites, in a beautifully furnished apartment with room for us all to go our own way for a bit, or share a great dinner together.  The apartment had amazing views of the castle and the tourist attractions were steps from our door.  It had everything we needed from restaurant recommendations to an amazingly updated kitchen.  It's a great place to stay if you are ever in Edinburgh!

The skies were sunny, the people were amazingly friendly and the sights were breathtaking...

We took a crazy, scary Haunted Graveyard tour through City of the Dead tour company and I cannot recommend it enough!  It had my kids placing me high up on a pedestal, and me sleeping with the lights on.  We also took the Real Mary King's Close tour which takes you back to 17th Century Scotland.  This one helped me score some points as well, as this is touted as the "most haunted place on Earth"!

Edinburgh was a great city for roaming, exploring and of course taking in a bit of history, I highly recommend you add it to your bucket list!

Tune in this week for the rest of our Scottish adventure!

  1. I can't wait to go there! I am looking forward to everything that Edinburgh has to offer and being a ROCK STAR to my 14 yr old son would be an added benefit. He is hard to impress but I am sure that he would love the tours you mentioned.

Can't wait to hear more about your Scotish adventure!

    1. Thanks Amanda! It was really different, it's almost a tiered city. You can look down on a location and never really figure out how to get to it??? And the people are wonderful!
